平遥县明清街镖局博物馆位于平遥古城南大街61号，总占地面积1700多平方米，馆内展室以详实、丰富的实物资料，客观全面地介绍了中国镖局发展史以及在明清时期中国有名的十大镖局、十大镖师和走镖过程中的轶闻趣事；展示了当时古代镖师曾用之物：镖箱、镖车、兵器和生活用过的烟具、观烟桌、家具、书画、瓷器、木器等，以及他们的生活习惯和江湖行规;揭示了镖局在中国封建社会后期对商品流通领域做出的贡献。本馆不仅对研究中国镖局行业的历史，尤其为研究形意拳、长拳、弹腿、长枪等武术提供了不少的实物资料，是三晋大地又一处文化资源和人文景。

The Museum of Ancient Escort Agencies in Pingyao County is located at No. 61 South Street, Pingyao Ancient City. Covering a total area of more than 1,700 square meters, its exhibition halls use detailed and abundant physical materials to objectively and comprehensively introduce the development history of Chinese escort agencies, as well as the top ten famous escort agencies, top ten famous escorts and interesting anecdotes from escort trips during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

It displays items once used by ancient escorts, including escort boxes, escort carts, weapons, and daily-used articles such as smoking sets, smoking tables, furniture, calligraphy and paintings, porcelain and wooden wares, reflecting their living habits and secret rules of the martial arts community. It also reveals the contributions made by escort agencies to the commodity circulation sector in the late feudal society of China.

This museum not only facilitates the study of the history of China’s escort industry, but also provides substantial physical materials for researching martial arts such as Xingyi Quan, Changquan, Tanlegong and spear techniques. It is another cultural resource and humanistic scenic spot on the land of Sanjin.
